Overview
Kit, renamed from ConvertKit, targets creators: newsletter writers, course sellers, podcasters and YouTubers. It combines signup forms and landing pages, broadcasts, subscriber tagging, a visual automation builder, email sequences and commerce features such as digital products, paid newsletters, tip jars and a creator recommendations network.
The free plan is one of the largest by list size, allowing up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited broadcasts, landing pages and forms. What it lacks is automation: sequences and the visual automation builder are part of Creator, as is removing Kit branding.
Creator costs $33 a month at 1,000 subscribers on monthly billing. Pro doubles that and adds unlimited users, subscriber engagement scoring, deliverability reporting, a newsletter referral system and the ability to edit links in sent broadcasts. Pricing counts only unique, active subscribers.
For a software product that needs event-based lifecycle email, Kit's creator orientation and lack of a transactional API make it a weaker fit than SaaS-focused tools.
