Overview

Klaviyo is built for online retailers. It syncs store data from platforms such as Shopify, then uses orders, browsing and cart events to drive automated flows (welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase) and segments. It covers email, SMS and push, forms, product recommendations, reporting, a helpdesk, and AI agents that draft campaigns and answer customers.

Pricing is based on active profiles: every profile that can be emailed counts, whether or not it opted in, and suppressed or deleted profiles stop counting once processed. Each email plan allows sends of 10 times its profile limit. If you exceed the limit, you move up a tier at the next billing cycle.

The free plan allows 250 active profiles and 500 sends a month with automations included. Paid email plans start at $20 a month for 500 profiles and, per current pricing guides, reach about $150 at 10,000 profiles and $720 at 50,000, which is higher than general-purpose tools at scale.

Klaviyo introduced stricter profile-based billing on February 18, 2025, which requires your plan to cover your active profile count.

Klaviyo's pricing page uses a calculator that could not be read. Email plan tier prices ($20 at 500 profiles, $30 at 1,000, $100 at 5,000, $150 at 10,000, $720 at 50,000) come from three independent pricing guides dated July and August 2026 (everboost.co.uk, emailstrategist.ai, emailtooltester.com) that agree. Billing counts active profiles, meaning any profile that can be emailed regardless of consent; plans auto-upgrade at the next cycle when you exceed the profile limit. Optional flexible sending buys extra sends at your plan's unit rate. SMS is priced separately.
