Overview
Gumroad is a hosted store and checkout for creators selling digital products: e-books, courses, video lessons, software, templates, memberships and subscriptions. You can use its storefront or link to checkout from your own site, and connect it to other apps.
Direct sales cost 10% + 50¢ per transaction with no monthly fee. Sales that come through Gumroad's Discover marketplace cost 30%. That is roughly double the rate of software-focused MoRs, and the price of its simplicity and audience.
Since January 1, 2025 Gumroad has been the merchant of record, collecting and remitting sales tax, VAT and GST, and the old per-creator tax settings were switched off. Gumroad no longer allows physical goods on its platform.
Payouts go to a bank account by direct deposit or to PayPal, depending on the creator's country. Gumroad lists prohibited categories such as financial instruments, gambling and adult content, so check the list before building a store.
