Overview
Autumn is an open-source billing layer that runs on top of Stripe. Stripe still processes payments and holds the subscription; Autumn becomes the system of record for which plan a customer is on, what features they can use and how much usage or credit they have left.
Developers use three functions: attach returns a Stripe Checkout URL or performs an upgrade or downgrade, check tells you whether a customer may use a feature, and track records usage. That replaces custom webhook handling for upgrades, cancellations and failed payments, and makes it easier to change pricing later.
The hosted service is free up to $8K of monthly billing volume. Pro was shown at $375 a month for $50K of monthly billing volume, with warehouse sync and support for RevenueCat and Vercel as billing sources. The Apache 2.0 code can be self-hosted, and the company is Y Combinator-backed.
