Overview

Upsun is the current product of the company behind Platform.sh. You describe your applications, runtimes, databases and services in a YAML file in your repository; Upsun builds them and runs the whole stack on the cloud and region you choose (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud or OVHcloud, 14 regions). Every branch can get a preview environment with a copy of production data, which is its best-known feature for agencies and content teams.

Pricing has several parts: a €9 monthly fee per project, €10 per user per month, per-second charges for the CPU and memory you allocate to apps and services, €0.49 per GB of disk, and a support uplift of 10% of spend applied by default. Preview environments that sit idle for 15 days pause and then cost only storage. A monthly credit covers one project fee and one user license, which keeps the entry cost low but not zero.

Upsun is audited to SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS Level 1 and ISO 27001, and sells higher SLAs, SSO, Fastly WAF and DDoS protection as add-ons. The company now also markets Upsun Dispatch, a workflow layer for AI agents with human approval steps.

Resources are billed per second on allocation (hourly prices assume 732 hours). Extra egress €0.03/GB, extra requests €1 per 100,000. Standard support adds 10% to the bill by default. 99.9% or 99.99% SLAs add 20% or 45% of project value and need a 12-month term. Fastly CDN, WAF and DDoS protection are priced separately. New accounts get a 15-day free trial and an ongoing monthly credit covering one project fee and one user license (up to $19/month).
