Overview

Scaleway is a French cloud provider whose data centres are in Paris, Amsterdam and Warsaw. Its Managed Database for PostgreSQL and MySQL runs each node on a dedicated VM, from a 2 vCPU / 2 GB development node at €0.0156 per hour up to 48 vCPU and 256 GB. You can deploy stand-alone, with a high-availability standby, or with multi-AZ read replicas, and attach block storage that grows to 10 TB without downtime.

Pricing is hourly with no commitment: the node, then storage per GB-month, then backups per GB-month. Additional nodes (HA or replicas) cost less than the main node. PostgreSQL extensions include PostGIS, TimescaleDB and pgvector, and databases can sit on a private network next to Scaleway instances. Scaleway also sells managed MongoDB, Redis, OpenSearch and Kafka on the same pricing page.

Serverless SQL Database is a separate product, currently in Paris only. It is PostgreSQL that scales compute and storage down to zero, billing €0.13572 per vCPU-hour (per second, 5-minute minimum when active) and storage per GB-hour, with daily backups kept 7 days at no charge. It tops out at 1 TB and has minor differences from full PostgreSQL, so check the compatibility list before moving an existing app.

Prices exclude tax. Managed PostgreSQL/MySQL nodes are billed hourly; storage is extra at €0.0993/GB/month (Block 5K) or €0.1489/GB/month (Block 15K), and backups/snapshots cost €0.03/GB/month. An HA node or read replica is billed at the 'additional node' rate (e.g. €0.0136/hour for DB-DEV-S); the multi-AZ option applies to read replicas only. Some node families are marked not available in the region shown on the pricing page. Serverless SQL Database has a minimum bill of 1 GB of storage (about €0.10/month) and its backups are free. No permanent free tier is listed. The pages read mention security and compliance but name no certifications.
