Overview
Crunchy Bridge is Crunchy Data's managed PostgreSQL service. Each cluster is a single-tenant instance on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud in one of about 40 regions, managed through a dashboard, CLI or API. It stays close to upstream Postgres, supports versions 14 to 18 with in-place major upgrades, and ships extensions such as PostGIS, PL/Python and PL/R.
Pricing is a flat monthly figure per plan, prorated to the second, plus $0.10 per GB of storage. Backups, connection pooling and data transfer are included, which removes several line items that hyperscalers charge for. Hobby plans start at $9/mo but are explicitly not for production; the production Standard tier starts at $70/mo, and high availability doubles the cluster price. Memory-optimized plans on AWS go up to 1.5 TB of RAM.
Snowflake bought Crunchy Data in June 2025. Crunchy Bridge's product, pricing and documentation pages are still live and it remains on sale, while Snowflake also offers Snowflake Postgres inside its data cloud. Teams choosing Bridge today get SOC 2 Type 2 reporting, HIPAA support, built-in SSO at no extra charge and Postgres-specialist support.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Simple published prices with egress and backups included
- Runs on all three major clouds in around 40 regions, including many in Europe
- Single-tenant clusters close to upstream PostgreSQL
- SOC 2 Type 2 report and HIPAA support; SSO included at no extra charge
- Low-cost Hobby plans for development
Limitations
- No free tier
- Hobby plans are not for production: no HA, no SLA, burstable CPU, best-effort support, 100 GB maximum storage
- High availability doubles the cluster price
- Some small and memory-optimized plans are available on AWS only
- Owned by Snowflake since 2025, which also sells a separate Snowflake Postgres product
Who it suits
Good for
- Teams moving off Heroku Postgres or hyperscaler databases that want simpler billing
- Production PostgreSQL that needs a specific cloud and region
- Teams that value hands-on Postgres support
Look elsewhere if
- Projects that need a free database
- Workloads that should scale to zero or need non-Postgres engines
