Overview
Scaleway is a French cloud provider owned by the Iliad group, with regions in Paris, Amsterdam and Warsaw. Its Virtual Instances come in Development types (STARDUST, DEV1 and PLAY2), General Purpose shared and dedicated-vCPU types (BASIC, STANDARD, POP2, PRO2), and compute- and memory-optimized lines, on AMD EPYC and Arm hardware.
Pricing is hourly and includes egress: Scaleway charges nothing for outbound data, but each instance type has a bandwidth cap from 100 Mbps upward. Block or local storage and IPv4 addresses are billed separately, so the headline instance price is not the full cost. Savings Plans reduce compute costs by up to 25% for a committed monthly spend.
The main reason to pick Scaleway is a European-owned platform with more than just VMs: managed PostgreSQL and MySQL, Kubernetes Kapsule, serverless containers and S3-compatible object storage are available in the same regions and console. Before choosing, check which instance types are available in your zone and add storage and IPv4 costs to the listed price.
