Overview
OVHcloud, the French cloud provider, offers S3-compatible Object Storage built around one simple rule: you pay for capacity and, on colder classes, for data you restore. Egress, ingress and API calls are free, so a public bucket serving heavy downloads costs the same as a private one.
There are five classes. High Performance uses NVMe SSDs for AI and analytics. Standard is the general-purpose HDD class. Infrequent Access, Active Archive and Cold Archive (on magnetic tape, with hours to first byte) are cheaper to store but carry 30, 90 and 180-day minimum billing and per-GiB retrieval fees. Deployments can be single-zone (99.9% SLA), 3-AZ across three sites (99.99% SLA), or local zones.
In euros, Standard storage costs about €0.0071 per GiB-month in a single zone and about €0.014 in a 3-AZ region for the first 50 TiB, with volume steps below that. Cold Archive drops to about €0.0017.
Object lock, versioning, lifecycle rules, replication, static websites, IAM and SSE-C encryption are available, and the service is certified for Veeam, HYCU and NetBackup. It suits European businesses that want sovereign, predictable storage; hobbyists may find there is no free tier.
