Overview
Magic UI is a set of reusable components you copy and paste into web apps, aimed at landing pages and user-facing marketing: animated text, special effects, backgrounds, buttons, device mocks and marquee-style showcases. Its author says the library is heavily inspired by shadcn/ui, and components are distributed the same way, so they sit alongside shadcn/ui components in a Next.js and Tailwind project.
The open-source repository is MIT-licensed, was created in 2023 and is mainly maintained by Dillion Verma with community contributions. Components use Tailwind CSS and Motion (formerly Framer Motion) for animation.
Magic UI Pro is the commercial offer: templates and premium components for building landing pages, advertised as Next.js and TypeScript ready at $199 as a one-time purchase. Like other animation collections, it is best used for marketing surfaces; it does not replace an application component library for forms, tables and dialogs. Check each component's dependencies before copying, since effects can pull in Motion and extra client-side code.
