Overview

BuyVM, run by Frantech, is a long-standing budget host known in the low-end VPS community. Its main product is Dedicated KVM Slices: KVM virtual servers on 3.5 GHz+ Intel processors with SSD storage and unmetered bandwidth. Smaller slices use fair-share CPU, while Slice 4096 and larger get a dedicated core.

Prices are flat: $24 a year for 512 MB, $3.50 a month for 1 GB, $7 for 2 GB and $15 for 4 GB with a dedicated core, and 'high volume' plans up to 7 cores and 28 GB. Snapshots are free and every service includes a DirectAdmin license. Block Storage Slabs add 256 GB for $1.25 a month and can be moved between servers in the same facility without downtime.

BuyVM also sells filtered DDoS-protected IPs and supports anycast and full-disk encryption. There is no hourly billing and no cloud platform around the servers; stock can also run out on popular plans.
