Overview
Pingdom, owned by SolarWinds, is one of the oldest website monitoring services. Synthetic monitoring checks availability from over 100 locations, measures page load speed element by element, and runs scripted transactions such as sign-up, login, search and checkout. Alerts go by email, SMS and the mobile app, and results can be published on public status pages and shareable reports.
Real User Monitoring is a separate product that collects load times from actual visitors, broken down by browser, device and country, with 13 months of retention and unlimited sites.
There are no named plans: you pick a tier of uptime checks (10, 25, 50, 100 and up), each with a small number of advanced checks and SMS credits. There is no free plan, only a 30-day trial, and advanced transaction checks grow much more slowly than uptime checks across tiers.
