Overview
Squarespace Domains took over Google Domains registrations and positions itself as a clean, all-inclusive registrar. Its Help Center lists common TLDs such as .com and .org at $20 a year, and Squarespace says the price shown already includes taxes and fees, so there is nothing added at checkout. Specialty TLDs cost more, for example $30 to $50.
Every eligible domain includes WHOIS privacy, DNSSEC through CloudDNS, a Let's Encrypt SSL certificate, domain and email forwarding, two-factor authentication and an activity log. You do not need to buy a Squarespace website to register a domain, and you can point the domain at any host.
Squarespace website customers on annual plans get one domain free for its first year, after which it renews at the normal TLD price. For developers who only need a domain, Squarespace is roughly twice the price of near-wholesale registrars, so it makes most sense if you already build on Squarespace or value its interface.
