Overview
Cloudflare Registrar is the domain registration service built into the Cloudflare dashboard. Its selling point is at-cost pricing: Cloudflare charges exactly what the registry and ICANN charge, with no margin on registration, renewal or transfer. A .com is $10.46 in the first year and $10.46 at every renewal, which makes it one of the cheapest places to keep a domain for many years.
The trade-off is lock-in to Cloudflare DNS. Cloudflare's own FAQ states that every domain on Cloudflare Registrar must use Cloudflare nameservers; if you need third-party nameservers you must move the domain to another registrar. Transfers in also require the domain to be active on a full Cloudflare setup first.
Every domain gets Cloudflare DNS, free universal SSL and CDN, one-click DNSSEC and WHOIS redaction by default. Domains are enrolled in auto-renew. There are no promotional first-year prices, no email hosting and no website builder, and the TLD list (over 390) is shorter than at retail registrars, so some ccTLDs and new gTLDs are not available.
