The short answer

Pricing steps differ. Resend Pro lists $20 for 50,000 emails and $35 for 100,000, with $0.90 per 1,000 over. Postmark plans start at 10,000 emails: Basic $15, Pro $16.50 and Platform $18, with overage of $1.80, $1.30 or $1.20 per 1,000. Postmark’s larger volume steps sit behind a slider that was not captured, so price your own volume.

The free tiers are far apart. Resend gives 3,000 emails a month, capped at 100 a day, with inbound email and webhooks included. Postmark gives 100 a month with no overages, which is for testing only.

Postmark is built around transactional mail: broadcasts must travel on separate message streams, and full message content is kept 45 days by default, against 30 days of data retention on Resend’s non-Enterprise plans. Resend targets TypeScript teams, with templates written as React components. Dedicated IPs cost $30 a month on Resend Scale above 3,000 emails a day, and $50 on Postmark above 300,000 a month.

Choose Resend if

  • You build in Next.js or TypeScript and want React Email templates
  • Your side project fits in 3,000 emails a month and 100 a day
  • You send around 50,000 emails a month and want a published $20 price

Choose Postmark if

  • Password resets and receipts are critical and you want bulk mail kept on separate streams
  • Your support team needs 45 days of full message content
