Cloudflare vs Bunny CDN

Cloudflare charges per plan, with a free tier that includes DNS, CDN and unmetered DDoS protection; Bunny CDN charges per gigabyte from $0.01 in Europe and North America, with a $1 monthly minimum.

The short answer

The billing models are opposite. Cloudflare’s Free, Pro ($20 a month annual, $25 monthly) and Business ($200 annual, $250 monthly) plans list no per-GB bandwidth charge; paying more buys the full WAF, image optimisation, an uptime SLA and PCI DSS 4.0 support. Bunny bills bandwidth by visitor region: $0.01/GB in Europe and North America up to $0.06/GB in the Middle East and Africa on 119 PoPs, or $0.005/GB on a 10-PoP Volume network, with no request fees.

Setup differs too. Cloudflare is a reverse proxy for the zone: you move nameservers to it and it terminates TLS across 330+ locations. Bunny uses pull or push zones pointed at your origin, and adds free DNS for up to 500 zones and a WAF, Bunny Shield, with a free Basic tier and paid tiers from $9.50 a month.

Cloudflare lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP High and other certifications; Bunny lists only a GDPR DPA but is an EU-based company, and lets you switch off regions and cap monthly bandwidth.

Choose Cloudflare if

  • You want DNS, CDN and DDoS protection free with no bandwidth bill
  • You need stated certifications such as SOC 2, or PCI DSS 4.0 support
  • You want edge code, caching and security rules in one dashboard

Choose Bunny CDN if

  • You deliver video or large downloads and want $0.005/GB bandwidth
  • You prefer an EU-based provider
  • You want to switch off expensive regions and cap monthly bandwidth
